I don't agree that state capitalism is fascism. Eg China. I do agree that the US and Britain seem to be moving in that direction.
A lot of people are failing to make this distinction, it's fairly simple though, if monetary power and thus production is controlled socially and democratically it isn't facism
It's almost impossible to control monetary power democratically. That's the main problem faced by the Left.

The "people" is a very wide definition. Mao used it to suggest the unity of the peasants and the working class.
In my mind it's money or people. Capital or real human and biosphere needs. The categories may change within those of the people to include proletarian, peasant, etc.
