I have been terrified of heights all my life. At 71 years old, I still have a terrible time trying to ride an escalator. My family made fun of me all through adolescence. It wasn't until I was in my twenties, after teasing me again, my mother suggested the reason.

That part IS true. Before Uber, I had to walk to the movies, and that involved walking across an overpass. Perfectly wide sidewalk. Lots of room. Scariest thing I've ever done.

Perhaps it could have been a result of the automobile accident my family was involved in when I was four years old. I was projected through the windshield for sixty feet and I refused to walk for a year. I knew about the accident, but I didn't know the details. God dammit, Mom.
