After about 4 months of being subjected to home detention due to health issues, I was able to put my camera bag on my back and accompany Rosie Fluerty on what we hope will be the start of our spring campaign. This Cormorant allowed me to approach close enough for a pretty descent photo.

Wonderful photo. When you say 'close enough' Do you mean very long lens close enough? I hope it wasn't the Irish dampness getting to you. Better move back to NZ if so as it 'ain't going to go away 😂

Close enough for a long lens however there is no substitute for getting close under any definition lol. I bought this illness with me from New Zealand. The NHS has a bad rep but the equivalent in NZ is much worse. Thanks to the UK NHS I now know what I have and how to manage it.

Well. Accolade for the NHS. Not often we hear one of those these days. Just so long as what you brough with you stays in you I guess everyone, but you, will be happy 🤗 Glad to hear that you are now in a position to manage the issue and, judging by your post, able to get out and about again.
