#nbadogdaysofsummer State your team and if you'd trade your starting PG for Trae Young (and pay Trae 57 mil/yr)
WARRIORS!, and do you really need to ask?
🤣
Thunder: haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa hell no.
Well, currently the starting PG is D'Angelo Russell so.... yes Will this be an astoundingly bad idea when Kyrie gets back, probably Do I kinda want to watch that tire fire, maybe
$57m/year of not-my-money to expedite Nico Harrison getting run out of town on a literal rail, sign me up for this circus
It's almost not even a trade. It's just bringing him home to where he was drafted
The 14 Oklahoma basketball fans in the metroplex would be *ecstatic*
Cavs and absolutely not
Lakers. No.
Kings. I suppose I would. Close though.
Pacers. God no
Nuggets, and do we have to guarantee the sign with Trae? Could we just give them Jamal Murray and his deal and we rock with Young for one year and hope he doesn’t take the player option lol
Nope! Gotta give him that deal! Lol
*sigh* nOoo, but i thought about it for Too Long
Murray is another guy, I was just having that conversation about finding a balance between "well shit he's not a top 20 guy but we GOTTA pay him max or it's disrespectful" and "I'm gonna cheap out and not pay a guy", his contract is ridiculous
Jamal and Trae are similar in so many facets. I think Murray has demonstrated a little more defensive ability in crunch time or when he’s locked in, but it’s not a huge difference. And we’re looking at about the same dough. Trae + Joker would be napalm on the offensive end, oh boy.
Murray more physical and theoretically has the size to be a better defender compared to Young
I think Kyrie is making 37 mil. Smallish scoring guards who don't defend, 40 seems ok. Spurs paying Fox THAT contract makes no sense to me but whatever
Grizz, and no chance. I don’t know that Ja is necessarily better, but I do know I enjoy watching him play more by leaps and bounds.
Ja is 100% better, just needs to be available
Utah, yes on a 3 year deal plus a player option, no question.
Interesting. How much better do you think he makes you guys? Obviously him and marketing, you have 2 REALLY good offensive guys, but in a tough West, how does that stack up?
If Danny Ainge is truly no longer calling the shots I think this is right Keyonte George + two 1sts + expiring contracts (Jusuf Nurkic, Kyle Anderson, Kevin Love, Svi Mykhaliuk) works Or Utah can just clear the cap space and see if they can just sign him next offseason
If Atlanta determines that there is at least one team out there that is going to have at least ~$50M in cap space and is going to offer Young a max contract, and Atlanta truly is unwilling to pay him the max, then Atlanta will definitely trade him before the trade deadline rather than let him walk
The only scenario in which they trade him before February is a train wreck season in which they're below the playoff line and have multiple injuries
I disagree… if ATL uncomfortable with Young’s asking price + they have reason to believe some team next offseason WILL be both willing + able to offer Young in free agency (2026 offseason) (Young would need to decline his 2025-26 player option), they have to trade him if there’s an acceptable offer
Yeah there's a scenario where they're already shopping him quietly behind the scenes, and he's aware and open to it. It's nuts that he has potentially TWO YEARS left on his deal but that player option means the clock is ticking
Y'all, they literally built this entire team around him. If you don't think they're gonna see what they have before pulling the trigger on a trade you're nuts
"there's a scenario" = there's a possibility, and with no extension and this possibly his last year under contract in ATL, if you think that the FO hasn't quietly and respectfully put feelers out for possible trade angles, then it is YOU, sir, who are nuts.
This is year 7 or 8 of Trae, they know what they have in him. If the *right* trade for a superior player was there, they may have already done it. Of course they'll also evaluate what they got before making a mid season trade. Not sure what you're going on about
But if the best offers for Young are bad offers (Jalen Green + Royce O’Neale, or Jordan Poole + Saddiq Bey + Kevon Looney, or Kyle Kuzma + Bobby Portis Jr + Ryan Rollins), then sure, Atlanta is better off just holding on to Young beyond the trade deadline
Kings, and you had me until 57m/yr
Pacers, not in a Haliburton-less year or a Haliburton-full one.
Spurs
Actually, yeah…: makes sense for both teams?!
For which of your team, the Hornets or the Bulls?
Born in #Chicago Went to 1st Bulls game with Corzeen and woolridge? Maybe?
Pelicans. Sure. Why not? Life is meaningless and we all die alone
You poor Pelican fans. Unlike Sactown, you thought you really had the team at one point---but it never happened.... I'm so sorry....
It's the hope that gets you
If the Bucks front office thought to themselves “If we trade for Trae Young and maxed him out maybe that would make Giannis happy,” 100% chance Milwaukee would do it If they had anything to offer Atlanta that Atlanta would want (they don’t)
Also when Austin Reaves gets offered a massive contract by some team besides the Lakers next offseason and the Lakers decide not to match and suddenly the only good free agent out there was Young (assumes Young opts out) and LeBron is no longer a Laker… would the Lakers max out Young? Absolutely
Those Lakers fans who don’t understand what I just said is true, I encourage you to Google “Timofey Mozgov” when you have a minute
And never count out any team that has hired Joe Dumars to make basketball decisions If Atlanta would accept a 1sts + Jordan Poole + Kevon Looney + Saddiq Bey package for Young, would Joe D. max out Trae Young? Absolutely
So I do think there are teams that would max out Young (Phoenix is definitely another one), the question is, can a team make Atlanta a trade offer for Young that Atlanta would consider? Lakers are the team to watch… Austin Reaves + expiring contracts of Rui Hachimura + Gabe Vincent, who says no?
The “Trae Young gets maxed out by the Lakers” scenario: - Atlanta doesn’t want to max him out - Lakers willing to max him out - Lakers think Young > Reaves - Lakers don’t want to pay Reaves what the market says he’s worth - Lakers worried they lose Reaves in free agency - Atlanta loves Reaves
Luka and Trae would be a disaster
I agree but I have zero confidence in the Lakers front office
Remember what they traded for Russell Westbrook LOL
Also this subject >>>>>>> “analyzing” each team’s 82 game regular season schedule If your team is really good, they’ll win a bunch of games If they suck, they’ll lose a bunch of games If they’re average, they’ll finish around .500 “Team X has more back to backs than any other team” zzzzzzzz
😍 😍 😍 😍 😍 😔
Suns, and NOPE.
Heat. Rozier out. Norman Powell, Hero, Young. Interesting front 3 until I get frustrated around all star break.
Rockets, no shot. FVV is a great fit for the role and Trae’s money is an obvious issue.
