Yeah, that's what I do now. The whole complaint was that it's hard to cook for one without waste. It's not about cost, it's about feeling bad throwing away food because I didn't use it.

Same. Like, even bread is such a pain. I try and buy half loaves whenever available.

Mass-market sandwich bread has enough preservatives that it stays good in my cabinet for a month after the pull date, and I still end up throwing away one or two moldy slices eventually. Bakery bread lasts about four days, so I have to really try to use it up.

Yeah, but yours probably is closer to actual bread. Ours keeps that long because of the sugar and preservatives. The contrast with actual bakery bread is shocking.
