It's not the Dems that are scrambling to block any attempt to release the files, it's the GOP and the President. The Dems have been pushing and pushing to release them and the Repubs have been using every dirty trick and lie they can come up with to prevent it.
There are Dems who are calling it a distraction, and djt feels free to attack Dems over this issue in a way that could initiate slander lawsuits - he feels comfortable outright lying about HRC, for example - but you are too tribal for me, denying magas their due in this. They are the engine here.
Some Dems suck, but most of them are fighting to release, while the vast majority of the GOP is fighting not to. I want them all released, but the leader of MAGA, Trump himself, is the loudest voice against releasing the info.
The Republican Speaker of the House ended the legislative session early to block a vote to release the files. The Dems exploited a loophole in a committee to force the files to be released and the Republican chair lied about the vote until a Dem forced a roll-call. Miss me with that "tribal" shit.
