Good g-d you are thick. No one said you had to agree with anyone’s view on religion. In fact we’ve ALL said the opposite. We’ve also ALL explained to you why we view it differently. If you want to know more, read up on orthodoxy vs orthopraxy (Judaism is the latter, Xtianity the former).

Read those conversations once more and you will see that many people presented their ideas and views on religions like facts.

Since Jill already responded to this perfectly, I’m going to repost a screenshot of what she said since it appears you may have blocked her. 1/3

Screenshot of skeet that says “No, many people repeatedly tried to clarify to you that what they were stating as facts were things like ‘Some Jewish people believe ____’ and ‘this is what is believed/required in Judaism.’ Or, ‘there are religious people who don’t believe in God even if that doesn’t make sense to you’”.

At this point it seems senseless to continue to engage with you because multiple folks have attempted to engage with you in good faith and try to explain to you that Judaism functions differently than the religion(s) you are familiar with. Yet you continue to argue they are wrong… 2/3

…despite the fact you are not Jewish and most of us in this thread are. Either you are incapable of admitting your mistake or you are just trolling. Regardless further discussion is pointless. Have a good evening. 3/3

No, based on what people say to me here I am incapable of imagining religion and all its aspects because it does not make sense to me.

I blocked them. Once they got to the point where they were defending the idea that *in their language* "atheist" can mean more than just not believing in God but generally not believing in anything, and that's what they thought someone meant by Jewish atheists, I was done.

Perhaps this is unfair and reflective of bias on my part, but I initially thought they were Nordic, and when I learned they were Czech, I went, "...oh." Because a lot of Eastern European/Slavic views on Judaism are... not great.

A friend of mine (who is also Jewish) lived in Poland for a few years like 15-20 years ago and she also made a similar comment (she encountered a lot of antisemitism). I dunno if it’s still like that but it makes me sad to think that mentality has still managed to hold on

Poland, from what I understand, has unique issues because a lot of people feel that being the location of so many concentration camps means outsiders judge them for not having a greater resistance, & so there's been a shift to divert blame & paint Poles as the true victims.

So their historical accounts differ on how many ethnic Poles were in the camps versus Jews - they claim far more Poles than anyone else's accounting. And they've done a lot of erasure of their history at that time. This is obviously done by politicians, but it skews the education of the public.
