NEW EDGAR WRIGHT MOVIE!!!!!!!
NEW EDGAR WRIGHT MOVIE!!!!!!!
@sheaserrano.bsky.social thoughts on the trailer?
Hollywood hasn't had an original idea in so long....
Nobody goes to see original films in theaters & they’re not being marketed. Why do you think the keep going to remakes
That said, the US does produce hundreds of more films each year than they did when I was a kid in the 80s, but most we never hear of or scroll past when they show up on Netflix or Prime.
Not at all true. There are piles of original scripts and treatments cluttering up the offices of agents and studios, but the money people rarely bankroll them and/or give them space on the release schedule without a bankable star attached.
Speaking of NEW MOVIES, are you looking forward to the upcoming LOBO movie (2026) and do you think they will do the Lobo Comic series justice? #JasonMomoa #LOBO #DCComics
I'm hard pressed to believe it'll have the book ending. Nevermind him stepping on whatever and yanking...
I'm wondering if they had the balls to do the original ending. There's the airplane scene in the trailer, so that's a start, but the finale would be a hard sell. Here's hoping!
looks so god damn good
Looks great. When you get really talented filmmakers doing genre films, you can get amazing stuff...
The gear shift + hitting the gas = chef's kiss.
And Stephen king!
🥱 Media illiteracy has infected the chat
I hope he leaves us enough for his fist when he rams it into our stomach and breaks our goddamn spine
Yes, but unfortunately also a new Glen Powell movie.
Sweet. Watched the original last month and it was very dated looking.
what, again? (the story, not the actor) Gah!
This story has never had a proper adaptation, if you read the book you would know this is actually based on it, not that weird movie that came out 30 years ago.
Thanks for the info. With H'wood cribbing the name, you never know. Did the former film base it on the story and just go wild, or is it entirely different?
The old movie is VERY loosely based on the book. Based on this trailer, it's still taking liberties. Like in the book it was designated hitmen that were informed by the public. He had to take recordings and mail them to prove he was still alive, but otherwise, looks pretty close!
Oh yeah, that’s gonna be hot!
If there’s no martial law and theaters are still open on Nov 7 I might check it out.
This will be good. I don't mind remakes. Especially since the technology has evolved so much to make it much more realistic. Original script was pretty solid so not much needed to change. Special effects in original looks quite dated now.
I'll go see it, but I don't want this to diminish Richard Dawson's great work in the original
Another remake no one needed though.
Wrong. This is a proper adaptation King fans have been begging for for decades.
So glad they're going back to the source material! The original is fun and all, but the actual story in the book has become ridiculously relevant as reality TV has taken over everything.
We need another Cornetto movie.
GawdDAMN.
Sorry man. You just can't remake this movie because the original was perfect.
Looks potentially good. Although like most movies, I think it would have been better reframed as a buddy flick starring Nick and Simon.
If you're going to make a new Running Man, since Richard Dawson was the MC in the original, it's only fair to give the role to Steve Harvey
Oh boy! I hope Sub-Zero is in this one!
Now! Plain Zero!
What about Mid-Zero?!
This seems decent
soon to be a documentary
I just watched the trailer for it! I had always said its odd that no one has yet remade The Running Man in this age of reboots and nostalgia porn.
Not a reboot, an adaptation of the book.
THIS LOOKS SOOO GOOD! SO MUCH CLOSER TO THE ACTUAL STORY!!
Ok this could be really good, but as a fan of the old one, I was hoping for a bit more of the prison-industrial commentary from that version, which seems ever more relevant today
(granted this version seems more true to the book)
Another remake
This one looks better to me than the first. Looks much closer to the tone of the book.
Tone? Story. I see a lot of scenes directly from the book in that trailer.
Yes, and that's why I'm excited!
Edgar is brilliant, but hasn't he gotten very very dark? The early films were hilarious with the dark bits at the end.
The world is getting dark. The art follows.
Perfect timing for a proper adaptation!
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEE!
Patton, I get anywhere from 10-30 messages a day from starving Palestinian families asking for help to buy basic food & medicine. As 1 small person there is little I can do, but you have a massive platform. Could you please share at least 2 fundraisers a day to increase the reach of these accounts?
You know those are scams right?
Actually, most are not. That is why folks like @mommunism.bsky.social have created verification processes to help weed out the scams from the real cries for help. Amal is verified and we message daily. There is always risk in helping others, but thanks to Molly's hard work, there is less risk for us
I read the book in high school 30 years ago and I can still remember every detail, this trailer is doing it some justice! Having it be a national manhunt instead of hitmen is a different twist, but it's fine. Overall tho it looks very similar. They didn't show the woman but they showed the plane.
HOLY SHIT! This looks like a decent adaptation!!!! Even the airplane???? That surprises me the most. Now if they can stick with the downer ending I will be VERY impressed!!!
Looks much better than the original!
Well yeah, when you follow the source material you tend to get a better outcome.
Timely
Oh it's by Edgar Wright then I probably watch the trailer - which I avoided so far as I was not interested in a remake of an american Movie of a german TV movie/Event of a French Movie...
It’s an adaptation of the Stephen King novel, not a remake of the shit 80’s camp movie which should never have held the name.
I'm so excited, it actually looks like a proper adaptation! Even the airplane! Let's see if they have the balls to have the ending.
That ending will be a hard sell, but I’d love to see it happen.
Yeah that's what I've been saying. I really hope the do it, but I'm doubtful.
Just watched the trailer... It seems closer to French Movie and the German TV Movie/ Event (I think that was live on TV) - based on a short story by Robert Sheckley (Wiki was my Friend). While it's based on S. King it's not a really a soo original story. Fingers crossed it's a good E.Wright Movie.
i liked the old running man.. yets see what the new one does..
@eastoflavfx.whore u an republican whore boy! go fuck yourself!..
Not going to lie. I am looking forward to this movie. We are all feeling like America is trying to hunt us down and kill us. I might even yell some shit at the screen….if I feel so inclined.
I was a huge fan of his until he decided to work with j. K. Rowling and wrote off her trans attacks. Now I can't support him anymore. I'm really disappointed as a former fan.
What are you talking about?
I went to look the article up and realized I have this actor confused with Nick Frost. I always think of first as Edgar Write for some reason. Anyway this is what I am talking about. Frost is working with Rowling and didn't stand up for trans folks until there was an outcry.
For once they picked a movie that makes sense to remake
Or makes sense to properly adapt.
