I don't recall mentioning Europe the USA or bidets, and I travel plenty thank you, probably too much. Now that you mention it though I go to Spain a couple of times a year and bidets are commonplace. Maybe you only travel to places where there are filthy bastards.
You specifically said UK and I pointed out that in apartments and hotels in Europe and USA there seems to be the same sanitary provision as in UK. My experience of Spain is limited to Barcelona, Bilbao and Seville and I can't remember any bidets but probably they don't regard themselves as Spanish
