They're actively targeting creators who call in & banning them, making it even more important to call if you're a customer & not a creator Tell them they shouldn't be dictating how you get to spend the money you put your blood, sweat, and tears into earning

I just learned that Surugaya, the place I buy all of my Japanese used books, took down all its 18+ content in May due to the (non-Japanese) CEO of Visa in Japan. While hetero 18+ content has since been reinstated, LGBTQ+ content largely has not come back, and I don't know if it will. I am ENRAGED.

Is this some sort of under the table push to get more people to use crypto or something? Peter Theil started PayPal and he's real big on it, along with a bunch of other antisemitic nutjobs. Like, I have no evidence for that and it's as much tinfoil hat nonsense as anything else, but still...

I would not send emails from the same address you use for those services, or with the same name on the profile, if you're that concerned. It's very easy to just get a throwaway email account with Gmail or other service if you go that route.

It may, but it took me nine emails to Visa (with me dictating the 9th email) to get a response that it was even being looked at by a team. So if you email and can call that's the best thing, because you have a response when they ask you to email.

The denial starts at the level of the banks, who force the payment processors to deny the payments. I would recommend contacting the credit card companies and major banks.

2/2 --even that article only highlights how MC and Visa can blacklist the PLATFORMS and not CREATORS from accepting payments with no transparency, warning, recourse, or penalty for false flags. which is harrowing, but is still broader in scope than targeting one creator for speaking out. try again.

I've seen several threads of folks saying PayPal was specifically asking if they were creators, asking for account names/emails, and those folks receiving bans 1-3 days later, which is damn suspicious It *seems* to be a fairly isolated thing but it has happened at least three times that I know of

with respect, you're the one making the claims of specific creators being retaliated against for speaking out, so the burden of proof is not on me. I'm not crying wolf here. but I did try looking things up and the closest relevant article I found was this one. 1/2 raiderking.com/comply-or-be...

Boosty's parent company appears to have links to Russia, so it's not a neutral platform if one is taking a side in the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Not a surprise if they're helping Russia evade sanctions.

Their terms of service explicitly forbid "pornographic or sexually explicit" content. As well as content that "violates any applicable law, rule or regulation". Which, in Russia, includes quite a bit of what we would consider normal. (it obviously doesn't mean it -will- be enforced, but it -might-)

fuwaneko @haineko.dev

While technically true, nothing forbids you from creating a private Telegram group with all the content and using Boosty as a way to access it (they have a Tg bot). Also, it's forbidden in public posts. You may post explicit stuff for paid subs (just like on Patreon). There are some limitations tho.

Creators need to get on every non-scam payment platform they can as soon as they can. They need to use Business EINs and set up accounts under those. Elderly family members? Great, they can also provide backup accounts.

The rules are the same everywhere, but what matters is how much people care to enforce them. The truck is not finding the platform with the laxest rules, but the laxest enforcement.

Somehow I think the sanctions busting platform won't bow to pressure from an Australian morality group. That's the problem here, not the platforms, but the platforms bowing to external pressure groups because they are vulnerable to legal actions and politics.

Anything Collective Shout would want to ban, is already banned there by the site's terms of service. And if you think they won't bow to anyone, there's quite a few news articles about them banning bloggers and news media upon Russian government's request.

If all options are on the table for survival, then so is crypto. A stablecoin like USDC would avoid volatility for US creators, though the USD is declining against many currencies lately. The company seems to have poor ratings for service, which might put off buyers.
