I have been a pediatrician for 2 decades and I have never before heard of a high school football game cancelled for coxsackie. It's unusual because a vast majority of high school students should have immunity previous exposure. www.wkyc.com/article/spor...

Classical HFMD is caused by enterovirus-A71 and Coxsackievirus-A16 in young children. However immunity is type specific, and outbreaks caused by other enteroviruses like Coxsackievirus-A6 are being increasingly seen, including in adolescents and young adults. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...
