I don’t want to hear another word about silent or boomers. Y’all got that now?

Cheers to this! My mom has been protesting for 60 years - civil rights, Vietnam War, women's rights, no nukes, disability rights, the climate, GMOs, etc. The list is endless, really. When I was young, I thought she was crazy. Now, I have mad respect all she did. What an inspiration!
My mom (a silent) made me what I am today. She avidly followed the “Women’s Lib” movement, was an early subscriber to Ms. magazine and if she hadn’t had 3 kids at home I’m sure she’d have been at the ERA march. A staunch Catholic to the end, she supported abortion rights.
Your mom loved, Liberty, same as my mom did. ✌️
Thank you for sharing. 💙
The majority are still terrible. My dads a boomer, a vet, and deep maga
💯 I'm tired of seeing people who fumbled their chance to stop all this decades ago look for forgiveness or even demand respect for the actions of the few and the brave now that the consequences have arrived. That discomfort is earned, there's a solid reason the new generations blame them.
I don’t know if you are aware of all the effort to change things never really went away. Wanna discuss Agent Orange or handicap access. Iran/Contra The political pendulum never stops swinging
I grew up reading about Iran/contra and while I can appreciate the point you're trying to make I think maybe you're missing mine. Not all boomers is great but I'm not failing to see the progress just because I'm not forgiving the complacency of the whole for the past.
Lots of people no matter the “gen” Didn’t give a fuk. Progress has been made but it is being eroded as the pendulum swings back Our history is repeating itself
I'm not debating that there have been persistent efforts at all. I'm intimately aware of them as the offspring not only of a disabled Vietnam vet that struggled with many things connected to his service but specifically the exposure to agent orange, which led to physical disabilities in myself.
I want you to grasp the term for the rest of your life WTF, Not You Again? As you drag your worn out body to the nearest protest Nobody said keeping the Republic would be easy
Grasp what term?
I'm tired of seeing a 'new generation' sit & bitch at their keyboards. They'll be the ones blamed in a few years. At least boomers made an effort, or did you never see 60s-70s history? Which protest did you attend? How many representatives have you contacted? How many letters/emails have you sent?
Or How many people did you register to vote? Sign petitions It’s never ending.
Getting caught up trying to prove examples of my efforts to people individually is a waste of my time, I feel confident that I have every right to criticize them, my conscience is clean and I've sacrificed enough, I will continue to do so. Rest assured.
I’d be happy if these guys would just have a word with their asshole gen z techbro kids who are hell bent into enshittifying us into an Ai Hell
Agreed Until yesterday The largest protest was in the 60’s against the Vietnam War
Don’t forget the women who marched for the ERA.
It worked, too Let's make protesting great again
That gotcha moment you're looking for where someone is humbled by the knowledge that they are criticizing a thing they haven't fought for is misplaced here, I promise you.
Ditto.
I wasn't directly talking to you at all until you made a comeback as though I meant every boomer, you included (I'm guessing you're one, you're pretty defensive.) I didn't use the word you, you did. You can't claim that you mean someone else when you say "you" in reply to my personal comment.
You poor thing.
Bro, you are the one that seems offended. I said what I said, you said what you said. Now move on. I will no longer respond. Have the life you deserve.
The ones that bitch the most ARE the boomers. And the ones on the right side of history were still outnumbered, even though things have changed. And I have boomer family that do protest against this fascist government. I’m not angry at the ones who do fight. We shouldn’t even be arguing!
Also, if you aren’t the problem, then I’m not talking about you. If it makes you upset, then you are part of the problem. It’s like saying “all men”. I don’t take offense to that because I KNOW that I’m not part of the problem!
Just like I’m specifically criticizing those who sit & bitch at their keyboards but do nothing personally to resist.
Absolutely! And I take some blame as genx. Problem is they closed the door, pushed down the ladder, took all the tools. Whatever analogy you want to use, they stopped us from trying. That’s why we raised our kids completely different, but I can only speak for my wife and I
We put down our protest signs and got on with our lives. Thinking our donations to good causes would keep up the momentum. Pick up the sign once or twice against both bushes. And get back to our lives and making donations. But here we are again. And that’s why you see so many “boomers” WTF
Does it ever stop Nope That mindset is alive and well
Having the luxury of looking away is the gift that keeps giving when you grew up in a world that no longer exists. I think the foundation of our civil rights movements were laid by people who sacrificed the most, but there are many hands outstretched for a high five simply because they saw it happen
Nail on the head, all the promise of the Clinton presidency was tarnished by the scandal of Monica L. Which at that time spilled over onto Gore, similar to Biden having controversy that spilled onto Kamala, pitting the voters against them by association. Gore was the popular vote, should've won
Your kids are the techbros who are enshittifying literally everything. Do you want a “smart” faucet? Do you want Ai to do your thinking for you? This boomer graduated college straight into Reagan’s hellscape. Now I’m on the brink of losing SS & Medicare too. I *still* protest.
Well, considering my daughter early head start teacher and my son works in a factory, you’re a bit off base
So that’s one.
My 81 yo mom walked a mile with me to stand on her bad knee for 2 hours at the #NoKings demonstration in Long Beach, CA
Hooray for you both!
👏👏👏👏👏

DISGRACEFUL!!
U.S. Capitol Police confirm John Spitzberg, 87, of Gainesville, FL, was arrested for crossing a police line during a demonstration on Friday.
As they continue to cross moral and ethical lines every day. Veterans against fascism, thank you!
Meanwhile a crazy MAGA Assailant is running around killing Democrats
Of all the disgusting actions committed by this disgusting Administration, arresting an 87-year-old veteran and ZIP-TYING HIS HANDS BEHIND HIS BACK so he couldn't use his walker is one of the most despicable.
Ok now we can add “Florida Man” to that list of folks to STFU about.
