Oooh! I was thinking they were like jumping spiders. Female tarantulas living that long vs the males is so crazy!

it’s nuts!!! i was absolutely stunned when i started looking into keeping them. some of the really slow-growing females can live for 25+ years—the males of those species last for around 8 max. and because the females keep growing, the size difference between a mature male and female is TERRIFYING

nature is crazy LOL and omg i can imagine - i'm more into snake keeping and the size difference between males and female is wild, esp when you see them mate like my guy you should be terrified
