Technically 42 law enforcement agencies in DC (municipal and federal), and that's not counting the universities that each have their own private security teams.

I was just counting ones that were authorized to make arrests, but fair enough, I've likely grossly undercounted. DC has never had a problem with too few officers.

When someone commits a crime in specific parts of the city (notably the Mall, near the White House, and near Congress), it's amazing how many law enforcement agencies respond, and how megafucked that person is.
