I agree, but I was talking hypothetically about a genuine free fair democracy rather than the American system. like education is solid, there's a wide array of viable candidates as an alternative but for whatever reason the citizens vote for the kicking puppies party by like 70-80 % margins
i mean the hypothetical benefit of democracy is that as soon as 51% of a given population agrees on a law then that can be created, and then life would get better to a degree that everyone agrees not to get rid of that law, and ideally bad laws would eventually be repealed by consensus
so yeah it would be a bad mark on the populace but we have to believe in peoples' ability to get better
