Just to expand on this, I've said for years that the GOP's fatal misunderstanding is they think Trump's power is his cruelty. It's his showmanship. He's an extremely talented carnival barker WHO ALSO happens to be a vicious idiot. But, crucially, he *is good at being a carnival barker*
I’m not so sure about that. Every carnival barker I’ve ever read about or seen in a movie was exposed as a con artist, tarred and feathered, and thrown out of town. Taco 47 has been exposed as a liar, a racist, and a criminal over and over again, and he’s still squatting in the White House.

Nobody coming after Trump has even one tenth of the charisma (complimentary, but also evil) that he does. That makes it hard to sell the cruelty they were already failing to sell.
And like, I really feel like if everyone took a deep breath and thought about it for a minute, Trump's magic works on us too, even though we hate him! He's very good at being a carnival barker!! Many such cases! Thank you for your attention to this matter!

We still have to punch every fucking one of them in the face in every possible way, from legally to literally, and I am extremely serious about wanting trials, convictions, and executions. Please don't think I'm saying we're on easy street. We're two generations away from easy street.
Trump is the mortar in the wall. He goes and it'll still stand, sure. But it will get so much more precarious. Where we needed a sledgehammer, maybe now we just need our hands. But tearing the wall down remains the objective. That has not changed.
