I doubt that's true. I don't know their infrastructure well enough to know details, but once you're processing the underlying text you're dealing with a whole different beast

Well sure, but it reduces the amount of text to search through as compared to the current search.

yeah at this point i'm pretty far out of my depth without knowing how their search is set up. but searching large data sets gets very messy, and the path under the hood for something like "show the following tab" vs "search the text of every post by someone I follow" may be quite different
