Think I read somewhere the difference is in excess of 20 million plus, Leipzig was more difficult. We have to be firm in our valuations, it could lock us out of buying other players. Arguably Madueke was overpriced...but the market is fiscally stupid at the moment.

I do wonder who was the first choice though. I think Liverpool showed with Alisson and Van Dijk, sometimes you have to overpay for your first choice

I think the big difference here is Liverpool were 100% convinced they were getting a guaranteed, world class success in both cases. I don't think Arsenal consider any (attainable) striker in this market to be that.

Arsenal did do the same with Rice, for instance.

With that in mind, would you take a 150 million Isak over a Norgaard, Madueke and Gyokeres? It improves our first 11 immeasurably but, that's not where our issues where last season. Starting to think the club can't win with fans like me and others 😂

I would and I also actually think Arsenal probably would* but I don't think Newcastle would sell Isak to Arsenal even at that price after getting CL. *though imo they very clearly want a bigger squad
