thats the whole point and its not funny at all they don't actually care about the 1% of ppl who are trans but they KNOW they can use anti-trans rhetoric to enforce their standards of femininity by creating a woman who is illegal and accusing you of being one. it's "witchcraft" all over again
not that this should be why people care - people should care because trans people are people - but this is a feature, not a bug
The only funny angle is the smugness of transphobes who think they can identify a "real" man or woman and then proceed to step on rakes over and over and over. Bonus points if they get ostracized by their transphobic social circle for failing them by having a faulty transdar.
Like my favorite thing is when a bigot online thinks waaaay too hard about what gender someone is trying to transition to and from and in their attempt to be transphobic they accidentally validate. "You'll never be a real woman" "well I'm a trans man so thank you" "wait--" and then they get KO'd
I think one of the key components to fighting the rise of transphobia is to point and laugh at how much transphobes make themselves look like complete morons
