Yep, I'm done. I haven't been back to the US since Trump was elected the first time. I'm mainly a single ingredient shopper, so that's the market (as usual) and winter items I specifically buy non-US. I'm sure there may occasionally be something I have to buy from the US, but it will be rare.
Same here. Iβm finding the βanything but US productsβ approach an interesting game, actually. Itβs hard to say no to US-grown produce, but feel a small triumph when I find items from elsewhere.
Oh, forgot to say, the only thing I truly miss is celery. Will have to buy some in the summer and freeze or dehydrate to see how that works for soups & stews.

I found three packs of Mexican peppers available all winter. Now I'm getting NS greenhouse grown, along with tomatoes. I didn't make the market this week (car issue) but I understand asparagus & rhubarb are ready. I've done a lot of gardening over the years but don't have the land to do it now.
We had our first asparagus a few days ago. Such a treat! If you have a little outside area, itβs amazing what can be grown in containers, but setting it up can be labour intensive.
I'm in a pre-fab, in a park. I have some yard but I wonder about theft as my 'yard' is not fenced. I can preserve (both steam can and pressure can), freeze or dehydrate. Fruit today was canned last year (a mix). I'm planning to do more single batch fruit this year.

I left the stone crock when I moved. I remember making the equivalent of a rumtopf (excerpt with brandy). I also gave away a lot of empty jars, a bad idea, although I don't really have space for more than I brought.

Agreed (on both), but 5 years back I used that skill to teach / encourage a few other people. My new skills are now more cooking involved (tortillas, pastrami, sausage, cheese).
I'm lucky that my town's market is year round. All winter I could get potatoes, cabbage, cucumber, eggs, onions, and greens. I have bought some citrus from Morocco, kiwi from Greece, tomatoes & peppers from Mexico, and grapes from Peru. However, I also home canned fruit in the late summer.
We are putting in a good garden and hitting the farmers markets. Ours arenβt year round, but there are some farm stores, and our grocery stores were pretty quick getting produce in from Canada and other countries.
I'm in Victoria, and π¨π¦ radishes have been hard to find, but yesterday I found Mexican ones and there were 17 in the bunch I bought! Really good radishes too. No more California produce for me.

For my annual trip this year, Iβm travelling to BC & AB on an 11 day trip through the Rockies starting in Vancouver and ending in Calgary. Our country is SO beautiful! We need to see more of it and be proud of our natural beauty!

Just yesterday we were looking at a return flight from Africa, via Europe, and a 'best' option was a connecting flight in Newark. We will pay a couple hundred extra to avoid that.

I'm doing direct out of Halifax to eastern Europe or the UK and when flying to Asia, connecting through YVR. No US for me. Zurich will be awesome. Switzerland is expensive but looks amazing!
Where to in Asia? I went to a few countries there. I also had an unexpected stay in Switzerland about 20 years ago. Driving around, mountains!, huge rain storm, so we spent one $$$ night.
Flying to Singapore and out of Japan. I've been doing cruising for most of my world travels so far, but interior Europe is up next. To see Switzerland someday is a must.
Newark? I would never fly through there, or anywhere in America. The problems they are having with air traffic control is frightening.
That's why we said no, immediately. A friend, who is a travel agent, in the UK for the last year, offered that as a cheaper alternative.

It can be handy. What's wild is that twice we have booked trips on our own, and our last day of each trip, the friends arrived in the same city for their trip, unplanned. First time, discovered we were in Rome and they arrived. Last fall, final night in Barcelona, again.
