It doesn’t matter. Dozens of hospitals in deep blue states have ended healthcare for trans people just because Trump told them to (and a few because Gavin Newsom told them to) and several universities in blue states have effectively banned trans people from their campuses.
It does matter. Every time you shrug and go "oh well, everyone's awful and nothing matters, what are you going to do," the assholes win another inch. And every time you say "lol no fuck off," they lose an inch.
No the point is you should not depend on others who are apathetic to save you.

That is absolutely not what I said and it is extremely pernicious to twist my words that way. What doesn’t matter is that whether it is a law or Trump’s demands, they are being enacted.
As it says in the article, the state of California has already refused to comply with these demands; the question right now is whether New York will comply, which is something activists can push on. This is a call to action.

Also per the article, only 21 hospitals nationwide are confirmed to have ended trans healthcare for minors. Even one is bad, but most medical professionals are fighting this. Fascists want despair. They want to look more powerful and popular than they are.
All 21 hospitals are in Blue states (red states have all already banned trans healthcare). Included in the 21 are most major hospital systems in Blue states. Medical professionals aren’t fighting this. There’s nothing they can do when the hospitals end the programs.

California has *already* complied with the demands. Several school districts and boards in Cali (which Newsom praised) have already banned trans athletes, and the LA Children’s hospital ended care for trans minors
Hell, California has a law on the books banning trans discrimination and yet Newsom not personally feeling that one means high school sports can exclude trans women now. He didn't even have to do anything, just make his opinion known on a podcast!
