In which case you're saying Democrats can only select white male (preferably Christian) candidates if they have a hope of winning in the future. I'm not prepared to accept that.

I’m not either, but I think we need to address the misinformation & disinformation issues. There is something deeply wrong that the country was willing to elect a man like Trump to its highest office a second time after the manifestly bad job (and serious damage) he did the first time.

It starts with a competent candidate. Biden (i met with him twice) was much like Carter: great on policy and lousy on politics. He was unable to empathize with the concerns (rational or not) of voters about the cost of living and immigration, which gave Trump an entry point to play on their fears.

The concerns were rational, although the blame was misplaced. Harris addressed those concerns, but people didn’t want to hear her message: it’s not the people you don’t like, it’s the greedy rich who are picking your pocket. But people were more comfortable blaming “the other.” 1/2

It wasn’t just that the sexism and bigotry played against Harris; they’re also the wedge issues Trump used to play to the electorate. Add in the manifest failure of the mainstream media to paper over Trump’s lapses and failures while heavily covering every little gaff Biden (and Harris) made. 2/2

Having a woman, especially one of color, as his opponent plays to Trump’s strengths at presenting himself as a “man of the people” (which he most decidedly is NOT); especially to dudes who thrive on machismo and the women who like men like that. I’m not sure that would be true against anyone else.

You are correct. Add straight into your criteria. Do we really believe millions of Biden voters stayed home because Harris's policies were too much like his? Democrats can be racist and sexist.

Yes, we do. Reaching for racism/sexism as an answer is convenient because it absolves Biden and Harris of any responsibility for the loss.

After Clinton and Harris you're willing to spin the wheel with another woman candidate? Or a person of color? That's some mighty wishful thinking. I'm happy to be proven wrong but 2 losing woman-led campaigns out of 3 is the best survey yet.

I don't "spin wheels" or engage in "wishful thinking". I spend years collecting and crunching candidate and election data, meeting with candidates and observing them in the field. As for "two out of two" women candidates, I'll point out that Clinton got MORE votes than Trump in 2016.

Sincere question: Can you point me to any evidence that race/sex weren't the deciding factors in either 16 or 24?
