It’s interesting to me that the surface level ideas and sometimes even the institutions of a movement can become a vehicle for something that that movement wouldn’t even recognize as belonging to it. It’s like success breeds not only imitation but cooption.
TERFs tapped into “We’re trying to protect women and girls from these ‘men’” which is a very emotive trigger in society, even though society, as a whole, is far from protective of women and girls.
