Denying the Texas republicans decorum was an effective strategy and was very popular with democratic voters. For Texas democrats to capitulate at this stage shows more clearly than anything else that they are not an opposition party in any meaningful way.
Seems to parallel Cory Booker's day long speech, followed immediately by cowtowing to decorum thereafter "Here's a meaningless gesture of spectacle! Oh, but we do have to get back to normal right after, yes."
They care more about having the appearance of being opposition than actually being in opposition.
