Ok if we're going there... Also from Kansas. Oklahoma thinks they've got something really special going on with their biscuits and gravy. They rave about them there. But I have NEVER had good biscuits and gravy in Oklahoma. They're always bland as hell.

People that don't leave their state much always think they have the best things and that everything they do is original. They think they invented that "oop" sound in the midwest when you run into somebody. They spell it weird. But everybody in the country does it. They just don't know.

In defense of those who haven't traveled abroad, consider the size of the US. There is so much to see & do in this country. We don't need to go to the Alps to ski. We have the Rockies. We've got beaches & forests (the Redwoods!), deserts & badlands. We can drive to it all & use the same currency /1

I know experiencing other cultures is extremely rewarding, but getting there is expensive & takes a full day of travel. Besides, there are many cultural areas right here if you're willing to seek them out. Alternatively, reading about them or watching documentaries can enrich your understanding. 🤷🏼‍♀️

It's just a different flavor & as we know, in matters of taste, there is no distinction! To each their own. NC bbq is vinegary, which some people love! Which begs the question: is bbq about the sauce or the meat (smoking method)?
