Gquuuuuux would have been better if it got rid of all of the flashback episodes, and just did slice of life with a big action scene at the end of every episode. Which is something you can say about all of his post FLCL work.

It was my hope for this too. Hoped it would be a sort of cyberpunk story of teens re building their mech for stuff on an O'Neil Cylinder

You could probably do an edit of the series that is exactly that. The flashback episodes were such a waste of resources.
