the first full book I read in English was the Silmarillion and later all of HoME, but I didn't care much for the weirdly right-wing and religious Polish Tolkien fandom

yea, makes sense I came into fandom at really low point in life and made good friends (some of them are still my closest friends), so the more normal people there were kinda upset about place they thought of as theirs becoming a dumpster fire, but we eventually moved away

the first more organized fandom community I was part of was POGF (Polski Oddział Gwiezdnej Floty), and Wrocław's somewhat more disorganized USS Browarek

there was a time (like... 2014-2018) when Warsaw part of Treksfera was really active and we did lots of cool things, but that was also destroyed by right wing people stirring up enough drama to push some people away (and plague was just last nail to the coffin)

some people try to reactivate polish trekkies a bit and I'm extremely cautious but also try to take part ion things I'm invited to because when my main complain is that they're not leftist enough then the easiest way to remedy that is to add some leftists, but i't a hard work sometimes

I only like small private servers, public servers overwhelm me (I'm in some but it's mostly utilitary). I'm on that one but never really look what's going on, last time they still didn't grasp that in order to be welcoming space they can't tolerate bullies (and they def had some)
