Imagine if people were hearing about sociology, class and oppression outside of a work environment - then your work focused DEI training wouldn’t be as jarring or rife with conflict.
That’s exactly what the 19th c lyceum movement was in the U.S., starting in Mass. It was continuing education for blue-collar workers & set the stage for the modern community college. Traveling lecturers like Emerson went from Lyceum 2 Lyceum. There were all kinds of workshops & study groups.
