I feel your pain
Some requests... just too much to take
Oh man ain't that the truth. At the end of my first gig after lockdown I was asked if I knew any Spice Girls. I'm a ska singer in my 50s - what do you think are the chances? 😂
Paha!!!! We've had similar, five white guys from London, being asked if we do Miss Dynamite, Tupac or Nikki Minaj
Mmm, that's a weird mixtape. I'd just ask if they serve sushi rolls with that.
I get it, I get not everyone's not into music on the same level as those of us who perform it - but you'd have to be totally tone deaf and oblivious to ask us that kind of stuff
For us, it's also the event. We do a lot of weddings, we've been asked for Radiohead, Disturbed, Joy Division etc. We're like, pal, it's your do, but will your nan really get up and dance to these?
You gotta read the room. I remember one gig I did where the venue was rocking everyone was on their feet, the manager was offering me more money to keep playing because his tills were ringing, the bar staff were dancing on the bar Fella comes up 'Can you sing Imagine by John Lennon?' 🙄🙄
Oh mate!!!!! Stuff like that gets spoken about in band meets many years later
And you try to tell young up and coming bands and performers and they won't believe you
