What kept Dandandan from really grabbing me was that I couldn't shake the feeling the author just left blanks in the plot and script Mad Libs style and then handed it to a 13 year old boy, who wrote "DICK TITS BALLS PUSSY" etc. and that's the final product they went with.
Yeah. I know what the target audience for shonen is, but it is annoying to see these authors create genuinely fun worlds, write interesting storylines and cool characters just to use them for dick jokes. I think the manga feels better because you can kind of choose to filter it out while reading.
