A pair of Blue Winged Teals was down for the winter a few months ago. They breed all across Canada from the Maritimes to the Yukon and like any sensible couple, come down here for the winter. Their wing coverts are blue, you'll have to take my word for it! #birds

A pair of mottled brown small ducks on a rippling pond. The male is on right looking left and has a white crescent on his face, the female looks right and has a smaller white patch where bill meets head. Their bills are very dark brown to black

Here they both face right in the image, the male's reflection in the pond is clear

Here the female is diving for the pond grass it eats here as the male dips his bill in the water
