The U.S. Constitution doesn't give Trump many of the powers he is exercising. 6 Supreme Court Justices give him those powers.

Exactly! We are helpless bc of the corrupt 6 SCOTUS that lean right and are being told by the billionaire sycophants what to vote for! They don’t hide that they are corrupt! They are literally flaunting their unbridled power and snubbing their noses at us! It all started with the reversal of R vs W
If I steal a gun and then use it to harm someone, no one gives a shit if I had the right to wield the gun. They only care that I pointed it and pulled the trigger.
No. A complicit “opposition” is allowing him to exercise whatever powers he thinks he has. Here’s the Dim Party ready to take on Nazis
And yet he’s exercising them anyway despite them not being granted. There’s a lesson there. Lincoln ignored the Constitution and the Courts when he issued the Emancipation Proclamation in direct contravention of Taney’s ruling in Dred Scott. It’s not the exercise of power. It’s what he’s doing.
The most major crime the Democrats ever pulled was convincing people that leadership was about following the rules. It isn’t. Leadership is about much more: also knowing when the situation demands you break them. And being willing to pay the price for being wrong, but doing the right thing anyway.
Pluses and minuses to that. After a decision to do something illegal at the moment is acted upon, that decision only works when you come out on top. Else, many are executed as a result. When all of your legal options are no longer on the table, what then is left? Who fires the first shot? Not I!
I would if I were hunting an Orange Turd. I'm 84.
Pretty sure stealing a bunch of tea and throwing it in Boston Harbor was illegal. I’m certain that capturing British customs officials (their version of ICE) and pouring boiling tar on their heads and then pouring feathers onto the sticky tar was illegal. They did that too. More than once.
I wouldn't say it was easier to do but actions like that are nearly impossible in this day and age. The situation escalates and pretty soon you have SWAT kickin down your door, or the National Guard marching on your neighborhood. We may have the numbers but the government can do more damage.
Correct, and the result was? Luckily it was your rebels who eventually came out on top. That was how long ago? In today's world, how can such an event type, play out today? It was an enormous risk then, it will be an even greater risk today. When will the tensions come to a head, explode?
I’m sorry but you have to not be a monarchist to continue in this discussion. No reason to be sore my ancestors pitchcapped yours. I am wondering why everyone in the English speaking world seems to be losing their fucking minds to right wing insanity though. I blame Murdoch and hope he dies soon.
Good reply! I wish you the best!
Called “tarring and feathering” when done to the body, but “pitchcapping” when done to the head. The latter was considered to be particularly brutal. Folks like Sam Adams and Paul Revere led that organization. Called the Sons of Liberty. They’re heroes. We still know their names.
Sending a mob to crack police officers over the head with steel flag poles and hit them in the face with grizzly-grade bear spray, and then pardoning the mob participants unconditionally, probably counts as "Leadership breaking the rules to do what is necessary."
After 8 months, i doubt anyone has the courage to actually fight back. Otherwise it would've already happened. We're fucked cause we're cowards.
It would appear so. Yet, a point will be reached, when the unwilling, become the willing. But to be successful, there must be careful planning, secrecy, a trusted team of actors. Watching from afar, no one can predict. I believe if an election occurs, if it in fact is legitimate, 1/2
and it goes to Democrats as hoped, there is hope sanity may return to your U.S. If the election is, as I personally expect, rigged, as was 2024, serious chaos may ensue, serious armed rebellion is a possibility. Yet, the longer a regime is in power, the longer it tends to remain in power! 2/2
We are mere days from serious armed rebellion. Or massive imposition of martial law followed by one. James Madison wrote in the 18th century that Americans were fundamentally ungovernable and that was the ultimate check and balance in the federal system. Now we all have AR-15s and endless ammo.
Your AR-15 is a toy compared to larger caliber weapons. Until your legitimate military leaders can take command, the only use of your AR-15 will be in defense of home, property and family. Think carefully, what is the reality should you, a U.S. citizen, decide to go out your door armed?
I mean it’s like they never heard of Mao or Stalin or Lenin or even FDR and think socialists are wimps. Y’all there’s a reason it took two different Red Scares and constant persecution throughout the 20th century and we are still winning seats in Congress even so. It isn’t because *we’re* weak.
Mere days away....... Ive been hearing this for a while now. My hopes are thin.
Oh man not in a good way. *They* are mere days away from taking their AR-15s and taking over whatever they can. Dem governors should be mobilizing their Guards but they don’t want to touch off the thing they’re guarding against so it’s pretty complicated. But they’re occupying the Capital so…
Where precisely are you watching from afar that speaks English and the political situation there isn’t a total shitshow? Canada isn’t afar. UK is a *total* shitshow. Australia a right wing catastrophe. New Zealand, same. There’s many other English speaking places (thanks colonialists!). Which one?
Just because we are a far greater right wing catastrophe doesn’t mean anyone else gets to lecture us who isn’t Canada.
I hope so. Im an old man with deteriorating health and would love to see this country rise up before im too broken to help.
I don’t. War is the worst thing you can possibly imagine and civil war somehow even worse. I served in a combination Euromerican invasion and civil war in Afghanistan. They’re worse than you can possibly imagine. I want the Democrats and the CIA to round these people up & imprison them in a Tower.
Worse than authoritarian rule. I dont think so. My hopes is that we fight back before its too late. There is no 3rd option anymore.
Dems in DC refusing to fight back is a gigantic tell and everyone seems to be in denial about that. I’m a former government attorney for a decade and a forever political history nerd. I was a Naval officer & served in war. There is no universe where the Dems are legit but haven’t fought back yet.
Good, you have legitimate credentials, you know the score. Again, be careful to not act on impulse. From where I am watching, only military armed force can save your U.S. as a democracy. Hopefully you can play a role in the restoration. This is, as you certainly know, not a damned game. No reset!
As retired military, what’s your opinion about the military upholding its oath to the constitution…or not. Where are the retired military etc uniting in strength to defend the constitution and persuade active duty/guard to stand down?
They’re making us waste our effort begging them to simply not vote for his nominees. They’re begging us for money as a condition of them opposing Trump, a thing we specifically elected them to do more than any other thing. This is just called a coup. They helped seize power as part of Trump’s plot.
Im a history nerd too, doesnt change the fact that nobody is gonna do anything to stop this takeover. 🤷♂️ It would've happened already.
So true. Democrats are complicit in letting djt ruin the once admired country
6 *unelected*
Along with the silence of too many U.S. citizens
I suspect many Democrats stay quiet as they see Trump setting precedents on unlimited power they would like to use in the future, and many Republicans stay quiet since they aren't worried about Democrats ever having that kind of power as long as the rest of the elections are fixed.
In other words, Democrats are just as corrupt
That's how "Both Sides" and Whataboutism work. No one is lily white, everyone is some shade of gray, so let's leave corruption out of our voting decisions right? I've always voted for gridlock so Separation of Powers is divided by party to minimize damage, but one party got all the levers of power.
“I’ve always voted for gridlock..” No you haven’t. You’ve voted to prevent any movement to the left, while the country marched ever toward the right. YOU and your ilk are the Democrats responsible for losing elections.
How about you go play “centrist” foil in your home party, capitalist pig? They need some “centering” given they’ve gone full Nazi. Leave the party of the left to the actual left. We don’t need to be contained by you any longer.
And we don’t need to be contained by you, mainly because capitalism is dead…and you and your ilk are just dead weight in the Democratic Party
And that tired old argument was revealed as fraudulent when they said that as the excuse for not getting rid of the filibuster and then when they had the chance to use it they didn’t because oh now we have to worry about bipartisanship with Nazis, something people specifically told them not to do.
I think they’re on the same team. No party lets the other party just wield power like this. They aren’t a real party. They let a *coup* go. Biden said “welcome home” to a guy who ran a coup against him. Biden had the Epstein Files in January 2024 but kept them. What are people supposed to think?
Mutually Assured Destruction must be keeping both teams from releasing the Epstein Files.
Holding a higher loyalty to Bill Clinton than to the People is what’s holding back the Democrats and it’s what’s held us back since 1992. When a fluke win propelled a horrifically awful person into power and his warped conservative southern “centrist” politics totally destroyed this Party. Look.
And it’s him, at minimum, who’s in those files and why another President is protecting him. At *least* him.
