Pretty sure stealing a bunch of tea and throwing it in Boston Harbor was illegal. I’m certain that capturing British customs officials (their version of ICE) and pouring boiling tar on their heads and then pouring feathers onto the sticky tar was illegal. They did that too. More than once.
