Sorry but I hate this. The implication that you have to work hard to deserve "amazing things". I'm waiting for a tram at 7am on the weekend, about to do a 12 hour day, what amazing thing do I get to make up for the fact I'm not still in bed? The idea that joy must be earned pisses me right off.

“Nobody in life gets exactly what they thought they were going to get. But if you work really hard and you’re kind, amazing things will happen.” - Conan O'Brien

So, the kids of billionaires worked really hard to get such amazing toys? Yeah, right.

That kind of reasoning also implies the opposite - that anyone who doesn't have amazing things happen to them somehow didn't work hard enough, or for some other reason doesn't deserve it - and that's just not true. The world isn't fair.

It's a fallacy the rich have instilled into the culture. It was true once. But much was given to corporations & rich business owners. European & other countries have good economies. Many have strong unions, higher pay, several weeks of annual leave, sick leave & compulsory payments to worker super.
