I like my EV and the 250 mile range is good for the daily commute with me charging once a week, but we rent a car to go on road trips because the charging infrastructure is limited enough that I would have to plan a whole trip around charging (and I'm in California).
Yeah, we have an EV for around town and it's great for that, but the one time we took it from Albuquerque to Denver the drive home was a nightmare. It took nearly three extra hours due to all the extra stops to charge.

You can’t rent a car in some areas of Northern California. I’m in Siskiyou County. If you need to rent you will have to do it in Redding or Oregon. We have a Tesla charging station in Mt Shasta. Pop 4000. Mostly to catch I-5 traffic. We do have Teslas here. Not practical for the No Cal ice and 1/2
snow. It’s truck and Subaru country. We say Eureka means I found it. Yreka means look for it in Medford. 2/2
Yeah. Snow country. We have a 2024 Subaru Outback and the gas mileage is...amazing. Especially if there's a tailwind.
Yeah, we live in LA and were thankfully able to rent a gas car for our trip to visit family in the Bay. Theoretically we could have planned around charging but I was absolutely not dealing with that with a toddler.
