BS. Sweden doesn’t have high population density and we have a very robust train and bus system that even gets to rural people like me. This is just an excuse and you’re buying it hook line sinker. Yes Sweden is smaller but all the Nordic countries have it and aren’t densely populated.
The difference is these countries believe taxes should help support infrastructure that benefits the people and the environment. Not everything is about endless profit. That’s why the main train system and each kommun bus system is government owned and not private.
U.S. <> Sweden. The there are a number of logistical and cultural hurdles that make it unrealistic in the U.S. First of all, where is all this money going to come from?
Think of Sweden as a state. Each state should fund it but you guys don’t handle your taxes efficiently and it’s definitely not put back into infrastructure and the people. That’s the difference.
It's a separate argument. The US has definitely failed with its tax policies; it doesn't change the fact that the US has both a deeply ingrained car culture combined with the most robust air travel infrastructure in the world. It doesn't make sense to spend money on a problem that doesn't exist
I think it makes sense when the environment is collapsing around us. They definitely need to invest in car charging networks & renewable energies. Radical changes are going to be necessary. Not doing it means certain failure. But I guess people don’t care because they ‘won’t be here’ when it happens
