Finding a job is not about talent first. It’s about “culture fit” and whether you will merge well or not, whether you can add value via connections or money and then the actual skills. Having a similar pedigree to senior folks is also key.

During the interview: “We want someone to bring us new ideas, new perspectives.” After being hired: “That’s not how we do things here.” 🤔
Interesting. I find it’s skills first then culture. If you don’t have the skills, it’s not worth checking on culture fit. But if you don’t fit the culture, having the skills won’t help. But pedigree? Yeah, you might be right.
Maybe? I think hiring is upside down right now all over the place.
Yeah. Can’t argue that. Cover letters don’t matter anymore. Machines do.
I dont even want interviews for anything anymore people just call me when it is too late and their shit is broke down and they need me to fix it and get it back online. but the grey market is like that.
On top of this many AI systems are just shutting applications down automatically etc. and people are leaning on networks in a huge way.
I don’t believe a lot of this is sustainable tbh.
