If we really want this weekend's Mets @ Reds series to be interesting, the Reds need to take at least 2 of 3 from the Blue Jays and the Mets lose 2 of 3 to the Tigers. That way, either team could be in the Wild Card spot at end of the weekend.

Of course, both fan bases are certain that their team will blow it, which probably means the Diamondbacks are going to the playoffs!

In the future, I’m not getting excited about this team during their annual June surge. I’ll wait until end of August to begin dreaming about a playoff spot.

while i would of course be delighted if the mets got the honor of losing a postseason series to the dodgers, i genuinely don't think they deserve it

No one deserves it. This is the problem with such a big playoff pool. No one really wants to see the last team to get in actually get in.
