The DC council went to court to fight control of the mayor and aldo police by Trump. Our Home Rule says "the mayor shall assist the President" which means, sure, Bowser has control but she is compelled to do what the Trump administration wants, legally. So she's just a puppet when it comes to MPD

Our council member says this means we can't expect any resistance from the mayor, and we are seeing that play out, willingly or unwillingly, over and over again.
