Refs have categorically sucked today

What in the fucking world? If that’s not a clean tackle how do you tackle?

Not sure I’d call it a clean tackle by today’s rules, but the targeting call was BS. And it definitely wasn’t intentionally dirty.

I mean, it was a huge hit because he was unblocked on the blindside but how is that the defender’s fault?

Helmet to helmet on the QB is almost always going to get a flag (whether or not it was intentional from the defender), especially if the flag can be given on review.

Well both of them have heads, but the defender doesn’t lead with his head at all. There heads just both exist. I’m all for making the sport safer (honestly we could ban it and transition directly to rugby and I’d be fine)… but if you literally can’t tackle the QB what is the defense supposed to do?

I mean, people have been asking that for years now, but if you watch much football, that is a pretty standard flag. Looked like the refs missed it live, but once the play was reviewable, it wasn’t too surprising that they called it. But targeting was the wrong call IMO.
