To where we want to be and if all that's available is part of the way there, I'll take it. There is no perfect, that doesn't exist, and it is a government for all UK residents not only those who voted for them but also those who's views we deplore. Democracy has to apply universaly.

Fair point. But human rights have to apply universally too. We have principles as well as a readiness for Realpolitik.

Principles and politics don't make good bedfellows. Politics is all about compromise including on principles. That's the reality some of us have to accept.

I'd give up a lot of my principles to avoid a deform win. If that means leaving the ECHR and a British bill of rights brought to us by Labour rather than deform, so be it.

There’s principles and there’s β€˜existential’ issues too. We all have skin in the game, but some are more directly at risk of being sacrificed on the altar of compromise.
