Even if the Dems were to get enough seats to impeach him, they won't! They've proven way too many times that they don't want to go "that" far because of "norms" and "traditions". That's why we're in this position now. Way too many people stopped voting because of no recourse for crimes.
You just described a classic conservative. Fiscal conservatives took over the Democratic Party when the Religious Reich took over the GOP.
I'm actually referring to a deeper problem. Elected officials have always been given a choice of retiring or prosecution. Even Nixon got off with just being removed from office. Personally, I think any elected official should have min sentences for offences that are 2x what normal citizens would get
Well, our Constitution was written by the rich for the rich. John Wesley refused to support our revolution because it was only meant to benefit rich white guys. Now the richest ones are fighting each other for total control.
According to other papers I've read from the FFs, I got the impression that it was unthinkable that elected officials would commit crimes. The few items in there seemed to be after thoughts. But I agree, FFs were not as smart and forward thinking as everyone claims they were
