Going to repeat myself here. One of my old lady opinions is that every anti-vaxxer should be required to sit down and do 100-150 years of their personal genealogy, so they can see a couple generations worth of children's deaths due to preventative childhood diseases.

I can't bring myself to wish ill on their children, but I do hope that they are disappointed by their google search for "grandparents' rights," because they're not allowed access to their grandchildren.

Maybe an app that then runs the no-vax timeline forwards and indicates which of their offspring die or never exist.

We don't have to look back very far to find polio stories. My mother had elementary school friends who were killed or injured by it. Why would I allow my own children to suffer when I can prevent that? I love my kids=I had them vaccinated.

One of my old-man opinions is scarlet fever almost killed me. and measles my sister. One doesn't even need genealogy.

I would add a field trip to this curriculum—an in depth tour of an old cemetery, paying special attention to the dates on the children’s graves.

This infuriates me for parents of children who rely on people to vaccinate their kids so they don't end up killing a vulnerable child. The way society in the last five years has been SCREAMING LOUDLY they don't care about anyone with immune issues.

There was at least one ADA lawsuit by parents of immunocompromised kids to try to require covid vaccines in schools, but I don't know how it turned out. The Department of Education's been gutted, so civil suits are the only recourse now.

Or things that probably won't show up in genealogical records, like my grandmother's hearing being damaged by scarlet fever.

Unfortunately, some /still/ don't care. My parents-in-law are anti-vaxxers & have been for a long time. My brother-in-law nearly died of tetanus (spent months in a children's hospital) & CPS got involved. They still never vaxxed any of my siblings-in-law (most did it themselves when they moved out).

Here at the end of the Oregon Trail the oldest cemetery includes a row of tiny gravestones, marking the deaths before age two of all six of one couple’s children. Not to mention the deaths of women in childbirth, but that’s a whole ‘nother post.

Without modern medicine, I would have died in childbirth, along with my kid. I've also got a few opinions about that.
