There is no credible evidence for the existence of God. You can't ignore the faults There wasn't an Exodus. There wasn't a Moses. Therefore, no Ten commandments or the rest of God's ordained Mosaic Law. The early Christian Church took 400 years to assemble and edit the first Bible. It's man made.

400 years to assemble manuscripts and translate it to a language that the common people could understand. What’s wrong with that.

Biblical scholars tell us that whole passages were added that weren't in the manuscripts. There were many edits. Many manuscripts were dropped in the Councils of Nicea. Politics. Some delegates were exiled or assassinated.

Firstly the council of Nikea didn’t convene to determine biblical canons… the Bible is made up of two main testaments the old and new… Old Testament including Jewish manuscript such as Torah, nevim and ketuvim, and the new compiling writings of the apostles which was agreed upon at council of hippo.

Yep, it was actually these behaviors that truly "nailed" my atheist decision. Man's involvement is this whole "word of God" scheme showed there was VERY LITTLE GOD in there!

When we say the Bible is the word of God we don’t just mean it is what God said… we mean it is an account of Gods relationship with man in times past towards the revelation of his son to us as a means of our salvation and reconciliation to himself.

Actually, I read it out of love and respect for my mother. I wasn't looking for faults, I was trying to understand the teachings. Instead, I read a compendium of evils. By the time I got to Revelation I put it down. Didn't touch it again for 30 years. It doesn't say what people think it does.

You weren’t looking for faults but your intentions were still so off you would never have seen the truth if it was standing in front of you. You were reading to fulfill a sense of duty not reading to know God, since you don’t even believe in him.

My atheism developed AFTER reading the Bible. What truth? There is no credible evidence for God. The book is a moral abomination IMO. The constructed ramblings of an iron age warrior culture. However, go in peace and you do you, but my life is better without its presence.

My take on religion is that it is utter nonsense, but I don't give a damn if people believe in God or not as long as they are not doing horrible things in the name of God or forcing their beliefs on others. I know I could never live with a religious person, though.

I'm with you. I raised my 4 kids to think for themselves. 3, at different times, went to church. 2 still occasionally go to the Calgary/universal style. I think "belief", in the right circumstances, does great things. It's the other 95% of the time that it's horrific that makes me know I can't.

The Bible itself is not horrific. Peoples interpretation and conduct with it is tend to be. Especially if they’re not obtaining comprehension by the spirit behind it.
