“Best paid” lawyers is a key phrase here. Many lawyers are standing by their professional oath- but the ones who fold have evaluated the costs/benefits of doing business under a racketeering dictatorship and reckon they can still find a way to profit.
This. I am confused as to why so many people think the only lawyers worth lawyering are in big law. Big law’s focus is money. That’s probably why they make so much of it. Their focus isn’t public interest causes (usually with pro bono exceptions).
Because the big firms have the money, resources, personnel and connections than the solo and small practices have.
