Right. There's an actual existing ratified trade deal with S. Korea that is current law!
Right. There's an actual existing ratified trade deal with S. Korea that is current law!
Yeah also they’re not going to be paying us 50% of their GDP. Common sense should kick in some point with Americans.
Does it matter? No. In the era Pres Trump does what he wants and Congress and the Courts will back him.
Isn’t USCMA law too. Remember that law that replaced the NAFTA law.
USMCA Trump’s best trade deal ever 2020? 2026 was renegotiate on some. 2036 end. He broke his own deal and the Law!
It's all illegal. It's in the Courts. What is going to happen when the Court says, "Congress must pass these tariffs." Does Congress already have ALL these bills drafted, or does the BBB already ratify his power to circumvent Congress, which is unconstitutional. What then?
More bizarre, that trade deal was already renegotiated in 2018, under Trump.
Can’t imagine the world economy should work based on one man’s whims
Chris, seriously- How long can we all go on pretending this is proper governance??
Who’s pretending?
It seems like it, since no one is stopping him! Thank God for most of our courts, but they can't do it all. He is DESTROYING our foundations. We need him out!!!
Every day I read a comment like this, and I’m just wondering, what would you like someone to do? And who would do it? Seriously curious
I dunno. 😿 But *something* must happen.
Ideally, Congress - the only ones with the power - can throw him out. In the meantime, maybe we all need to go to DC and stand outside the WH perimeter. Maybe if a million of us stand there? And stay there until he leaves? We could organize portapotties and food carts, and spell each other.
Well, I don't want any violence.
Especially when the Supreme Court keeps overturning or interfering with their rulings.
No sir I don't like it
I certainly hope someone is compiling a list of stuff like this for the impeachment trial.
You talk like you live in a democracy. Who is going to tell him?
Laws? Chris you know better than most. The only way laws would be enforced is if this Tyrant Regime is ousted! Until then laws by this Administration are only for them. common folks. Get arrested for sneezing on a kidnapper! Courts won’t do us any could when he owns the Government! Into the Abyss!
Seems he’s using “trade deals” to illegally increase our debts to other countries. How is strong arming our allies to LOAN US hundreds of billions at market rate like he did w Deutsch bank considered trade? He’s illegally increasing our national debt and raising the debt ceiling w/o Congress.

It's not possible to negotiate a treaty with Donald Trump. He never honors prior bills, debts, contracts, treaties. (or laws, BTW). No matter what he agreed on yesterday it means nothing tomorrow. Remember USMCA trade agreement? Loaves of bread last longer than "Trump's deals".
No country will trust ANY president ever again. We have shown that we might elect any old idiot, who can come in a void past contracts
You can easily trace the roots of this. International billionaires have stabbed America in the back. And if you know anything at all about history you will know exactly who and what I'm referring to.
Ya, but like everyone (with exceptions) is reporting this as POLICY/TRUTH! … … …
Laws can't enforce themselves, and with the crooks in charge of the Executive Branch, a majority in both chambers of Congress, and a majority of SCOTUS, who is going to enforce the laws on him? He has put himself above and beyond the law with their help.
We cannot find good people with the guts TO DO IT!
Everything the donald does is illegal!
Same as the existing trade agreements with quite a few other countries/blocs. Who could ever trust Trump?
Just like there’s with Canada and Mexico. Also illegal.
Same with Canada and Mexico.
🤷

People whose Representatives are Republican should definitely be calling or emailing nearly every day. Josh Hawley seems to be getting the message. I don’t get it, people say they don’t contact because their rep is Republican, but that’s backward thinking!
Nothing this current government does is legal or normal
Imagine being South Korea and having to deal with this moron and Kim Jong Un.
The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; To regulate Commerce with foreign Nations
Today an appeals court is sitting on a case as to wether trump's tariff's are unconstitutional.
I keep thinking about another missing spot of reporting. I seem to remember that no one is actually paying some of these tariffs. The prices of some things haven't changed because the ability to enforce was reduced and it is taking a while to actually try to get the tariff money in. Is that a story?
World Trade Organization?
Trumpery knows he has a leash around the neck of the Republicans and he's telling the driver to go faster
So, what happens to these already made trade deals that have been in effect? Isn't there a legal process that has to happen to negate them before they are replaced by a new one? Seems to me that step is missing and it's ripe for lawsuits.
Since when has a silly ol' law stopped Trump? To him, they exist so he can break them.
You know, just show his gladius to the King of Pigs and let the Lord of Lies really admire it. Somebody? Anybody? Bueller?
Isn’t there at least one senator who’s into Roman cosplay and owns a gladius? Asking for a friend.
Love this reference!
Be nice to have a Congress that enforces the laws they passed. That concept is long gone. It will take years to recover from just his first six months. If ever.
SCOTUS anointed Trump king with its ill advised "immunity" decision in the aptly named Trump v United States. No one is willing or available at the federal level to intercede. The states attorney generals have limited capacity. The coup is fiat accompli. French for "we are screwed".
THAT’S ILLEGAL!!! Still a thing? Grow up, babies.
America also known for honoring treaties right? 😂
All treaties made are part of the supreme law of the land.
This appeal hearing tomorrow will hopefully shut this down in a hurry.
Ah, well, that'll stop this from taking effect
There are no laws anymore, only capriciousness.
Kinda like, USMCA?
Shouldn’t other nations be taking Donald to the trade court?
We also have an Constitution that we aren’t following.
my god! do you really think this post is effective? do you think the clips of trump and D senators commenting on them are relevant? did you learn NOTHING from 2016 or 2024? fucking get a grip!
What a helpful comment, scotchman...
Asking only cuz I don’t know, but how or why is it illegal
Canada too. Come get your boy - he’s nuts. Also, We’re with Bernie on Israel
The endless lying. The endless lying. The feakin endless lying! Nothing reported from this Administration can be trusted; nothing given the benefit of the doubt. Imagine your children saw you this way, going to bed thinking of you: "Liar, liar pants on fire!"
Sooner or later MAGAs will hopefully stop worshipping their golden calf
Time for a bunch of Hyundai and Kia dealers to sue.
Umm, CUSMA
The Constitution is the essential law and he breaks it daily in dozens of ways.
The effort is unconstitutional. V.O.S. Selections, Inc. v. Trump is challenging the Trump Administration’s authority… Oral arguments in the government’s appeal are scheduled for July 31 at 10 am EDT before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. libertyjusticecenter.org/cases/v-o-s-...
Just like the USCMA.
I hope the Koreans & others making "deals" were paying attention when Trump set fire to his own agreements with Canada & Mexico when their leaders didn't fawn over him enough.
They had a signed deal with Canada and Mexico as well. He does not have to follow the law.
I think everyone doing these investment pledges thinks they're mostly fake and/or are things they'd do anyway.
Chris, please discuss Brown University capitulation to trump today.
What the Holly fuck is going to happen when SCOTUS which hasn’t meaningfully ruled on the legality of these issue (the shadow docket allowed Trump to do it _until_ the federal cases run its course) gets the case? I just can’t see them stripping the power of treaties from Congress. And then what ?
They don’t care. He’s broken so many laws and nobody cares.
Since when has he paid any attention to any law.
Kinda like the one with Canada and Mexico. The law is an ass.
Trump is using his power, real, and stolen, to persecute democracy around the world, esp. where citizens overthrew wannabe dictators --- like in Korea or Brazil.
Kind of like the laws that govern University funding but see Penn, Columbia and Brown, abjectly unwilling to enforce their rights
Well, arguably there are third parties that could enforce the trade deal, at least in the US. A trade deal of EOs should collapse under a trade deal. E.g., it seems like Trump is resigned to only tariffing non CUSMA goods.
The GOP is immoral and lawless at the moment. Are Americans going to lose everything before the Democrats or somebody does something? Our president has nothing but crooks in office. No one seems to be leading any of the agencies and by firing senior staff nothing can hold up… #dire
