FWIW I think it’s helpful to just block liberally! People can say whatever you want (within terms of service) but you don’t have to listen !
FWIW I think it’s helpful to just block liberally! People can say whatever you want (within terms of service) but you don’t have to listen !
It’s recognizing that social media will never be “perfect” for real dynamic human interactions because it has been co-opted by bad actors (or whatever the correct phrase is) We’ve lost option to verify who a person is by the look in their eye and tone of their voice.
I do. It’s just disappointing. Thanks for all you do on your end !
@mcuban.bsky.social have you considered posting better?
Just go away you crybaby. You are a billionaire with the power to do anything, to fix any problem, and you are spending your time on bluesky crying because people didn't applaud you for saying something stupid. Go buy a personality you useless mannequin.
I personally appreciate your solutions-orientated approach to your posts, and think it’s pretty neat that you ask a lot of questions as well. I’m more of a fan of you now since joining this platform. Trolls gonna troll 🤷🏼♀️
I don't know Mark it still blows away X n Threads. Stop your whining brah. Chill
So don't disappoint those who follow you for the meaningful conversions by reposting BS. Just block that stuff and move on.
Everyday is a block party on BlueSky! Keeps my feeds sane.
I think this is a pitfall for public figures. In my experience, there actually has been little or none of this for the average Joe. Sorry for the assholes.
It is disappointing, but I don't follow people who post nonsense and I don't have patience for people who constantly quote tweet or retweet morons in their replies. I don't begrudge you for being annoyed at these people, just don't add them to my timeline. Tom Nichols has the same problem.
For public figures, it would probably make a lot of sense to have a shared block list that you’d curate amongst yourselves. Those bad faith trolls are exhausting. It’s one way to stop them before they can start.
Ooo... Good idea actually
HIre some college students! Whack-a-troll !.
RHHansen is an asshole and I block you and raise you “hiding your stupid pst”
Also, you have to admit there’s something fun in the basic economics of it all. No barrier to entry means anyone and everyone is welcome to come and troll. Then you have the Digg beta that has a cover charge (later donated to an NPO) so only people who really want to participate come.
I fear that one day government IDs might be needed to register and use these platforms because some of us may feel the need of some degree of anonymity for safety sake (Ie having such a unique name that there is no chance of it being anyone but that person).
But sadly I think that the never ending “for the children’s sake” trade off of privacy for “security” will one day get us there. Then who knows what these platforms will look like.
It’s a shame that so many people see a platform like this as a means to just “shit” on everything instead of seeing it as one of civilization’s great equalizers. The ability to engage in actual discourse anywhere with anyone (provided they don’t block you). That ideas I have can be seen by you.
Dolt-posting duly noted, but I think there's still more room for full conversation here. (Maybe the bar's set a tad low.)
I appreciate what you are trying to do, Mark!
Yes. Now we need to move on from being disappointed and onto surviving this.
When I was a young man, the nonsense you're talking about here would rarely have an audience beyond those within earshot of the end of the bar. Now, it has a global 24/7 signal boost. It's definitely disappointing, but also, sadly, not surprising. It's the Wild West out there.
I’m here and on Twitter in a limited way, primarily to get breaking news, but in general social media as a whole, including this site and Twitter are destructive to society.
Very disappointing. Sadly, it’s been infiltrated by the bot farms and the keyboard “badasses”.
I appreciate you trying to be part of the solution and not adding to our problems. If I lose my ACA , I will definitely get my scripts through your drug company!
I block liberally especially those who attack others and whom I suspect are bots!
I appreciate Mr Cuban reposting the crazy replies he gets from crazy people. Adds to my block list...
Thanks for being so approachable, Mark. I'm sorry you're dealing with dumb people.
People's dumbassity isn't limited to any social site (although there's a lot more on Twitter). People's insensitivity and rudeness are products of society. Unfortunate? Yes. Sad? Absolutely. I will never understand people who take time to be perpetually cruel (and knowingly wrong) anywhere.
Well, you can bitch about it and tune out or fight thru it like the rest of us.
A lot of the anger comes from people feeling powerless and hopeless. Most of your posts are forward looking & positive (without being Trump-coded). You're posting from a place of agency that feels very alien to many right now. People don't want to debate - they are in fight or flight mode.
I think you’re right, but it’s disappointing because it’s dangerous and counterproductive to shut down debate right now. So much depends on us staying on point.
Unfortunately, the trolls got in. Really enjoyed seeing you more, Mark, and we need your perspective on healthcare! And many other things!
Disappointing maybe, but being an asshole is asking to be blocked.
I’m here for some good discussion…especially on weekend nights after I have had a few beers.
I strive to be constructive if i disagree with something, the replies noted were not that and I regret if any of my replies to any of Cuban's posts remotely resemble them.
Some of us appreciate you being here.
Yes, it’s disappointing. Thanks for still being here for open discussions.
There are still more good than bad here...
Blocking is Gods gift to social media.
Also people are pissed off.. it’s boiling over
If he’s asking people to “give trump some credit for things” he deserves to be trolled.
He didn’t ask that exactly (unless there’s something new). He proposed a hypothetical choice to praise Trump and guarantee fair elections in which democrats win a lot or not praise him and have unfair elections where democrats lose. Admittedly dumb question. But people seem really devoted to losing.
The fact is he was harder on David stern than he is on trump. He’s just another rich conman. Someday trump will come after him and he’ll wish he fought back sooner. Zero balls. Will never be president.
Ideally, no billionaires for president. But cost plus drugs was a legit good (beneficent) thing to do with a large amount of money.
He also said Warren's tax proposal (which would be a duly passed law) was a worse shakedown than Trump unilaterally taking 10% of Intel specifically and illegally. And this was just a few days ago.
And I’ll stand by that. I believe bernie liked the intel deal as well ?
Maybe that was a major step towards socialism. That’s by far not the worst thing he’s up to. The crypto thing he’s up to seems like it could ruin our economy. The man is the most corrupt politician in my lifetime. He’s out to destroy everything.
Bernie and Trump share more than one bad instinct
I don't care what Bernie thinks. I don't like or support him, never have, and this is just one more reason why he sucks. So you proudly stand by not knowing the difference between a shakedown and a duly passed and equally applied law?
Failing to see powerful people for who they really are is why we all keep losing.
“But I feel like I know him because he’s on tv”
Yeah. I even go so far as unfollowing (and maybe even block depending on what they’re reposting) anyone reposting the SAME thing like 15 times. Drives me nuts.
Because you're a bootlicking quisling coward too, you worthless fuck.
The blocking and filtering is what makes Bluesky superior to Xitter.
This 👆
BlueSky will censor your post if they don't like what you say. I have had this happen several times, with words “bleeped” out and sometimes the post just getting deleted.
I'm going to second Chris here. Blocking has made the whole experience so much better.
💯 I block anyone who just spews out nonsense.
Yeah. I’m not flamed that often. But when it happens, blocking is your friend.
Agree - I have been blocking liberally over the past week, and I think if you block, the idiots you block can't be seen, but i am not sure...just learning
Yes. If you block then they can’t see your posts and you won’t see theirs. It’s work at first, but it pays off because you’ll develop a peaceful ecosystem. Trolls are attracted to high profile accounts because they want attention. That’s where my blocking finger gets a workout! 🤠
I usually look at their profile page first before I block and make the decision from what I see there, but some folks are just so awful I just block right off the bat.
And if you post something that gains traction and is provocative. Like ‘miracles’ aren’t a thing. Woof. That was a doozie, Susan. 😂🤣😂
Love it.
I agree, I want to fight for us to not... Fight? I don't know, just to keep Sky a place to debate and discuss, not yell and insult. 🤷
Yep block block block like Dikembe
Totally agree. Unless you become a government official. Then you have to listen.
Wait, they DON’T listen!!!
Cuban is falling into the trap Hayes is supposed to fall into. Hayes is media, and he can have enough awareness to realize that his mentions are not representative of the platform he’s on.
100% Ruthlessly and shamelessly blocking is the one thing I’ve done here that has made the experience far more enjoyable. If I want a pointless argument, I’ll just tell my wife that her mom is right about something.
Agreed! If you don’t like it, get rid of it! Not rocket science! And really….how many of these jerks are just bad actors in the first place?
There needs to be a way that once someone reposts, no one else can or put people like Rupar on automatic distribution and not allow reposts.
I find it funny that with the robust filtering and blocking this site offers, Mark cannot for the life of me be able to use those tools.
I think it’s more a commentary on what Bluesky was in the beginning and the promise it presented, and what it is (or is in danger of) becoming…not his technological capabilities. Those tools are there for a reason. Optimistically, you have to use them sparingly.
Yes, but how do you make a social media be polite? or the world in general?
I know what you’re saying, but for social media, have a TOS and enforce it. Honestly, my standards for social media and the world are the same…just don’t be an a$$hole. The problem is on social media people don’t fear the consequences of saying the same thing in public, or to a person’s face
BlueSky has one of the best block tools.
I know. I’ll just refer to my original comment
people who just post insults should be blocked
