Appreciate your coverage Chris, but I don't see how this decision will change anything. Trump will appeal to SCOTUS and SCOTUS will rule in Trump's favor.

Hypothetically, let's say they come up with the formula to determine what percentage of the tariffs got passed along to the American consumers. Whatever that total amount is can then be divvied up and refunded the same way they sent out the stimulus checks. That ought to work, right?

Nothing will happen. SCOTUS will drag it out until the end of June 2026 and issue one of their typically contorted partisan rulings that always sides with the administration they are ideologically aligned with. Law doesn't come into it.

This isn't THE ballgame, but it feels like "A ballgame" if the courts actually decide that this whole "taxation without representation" thing won't fly. Trump can defy a lot of stuff but the government can't collect revenues without the law on its side.

I know you can't really say, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the whole rebranding thing.

There is a multiple-judge dissent. That alone suggests that a reversal in the SCOTUS is possible, or even likely. It will be interesting if the market reacts on Monday by skyrocketing. (Granted, it’s not always clear what factors are in play when the market decides to skyrocket, or to plunge.)

It will be interesting to see how non-US markets react on Monday. We won't hear from US markets until Tuesday because Monday is the Labor Day holiday.
