That is not love. It is not kindness or compassion. It's not charity or meekness or humility or patience or self-sacrifice or denying yourself or turning your back on riches in favor of making sure everyone has what they need instead of the wealthy hoarding it all - see evangelical preachers.
When conservative churches in the US start actually doing what their bible tells them to do - following the example of Jesus, who never insisted ANYONE hate, reject, ostracize, marginalize, exclude, demean, degrade, insult, condemn, blame, belittle, criticize, or ignore the least of these --
-- when they start living like the Jesus they claim to worship instead of trying to find ways to keep those they consider undesirable out of their places of worship -- and not just there, but out of society altogether -- maybe we won't be so cynical. Maybe. I've seen too much. I know too much.
When they stop condemning the poor for being poor, rejecting women who have abortions, insisting people are sick because they lack faith, judging others for what they wear or have on their bodies or who they love or how they speak or what they do or who they worship - maybe we'll talk.
Feed the hungry. Clothe the naked. House the homeless. Visit the sick and those in prison. Care for widows and orphans. Be humble. Don't brag about what you've done to help others -- just help them. Give to the poor, not megachurch millionaire pastors. Live 1 Corinthians 13. ALL of it.
RIght now, we don't see that happening. We see "christianity" as the epitome of the rejection of the teachings of the one believers claim came to save the world from the consequences of the sin they were created to commit. His dad could have stopped it all - yet he set us on this course.
