Of course, then you learn more about professor X
Of course, then you learn more about professor X
important addendum
uhh did prof x turn out to be a phobe? out of the loop here on this one
Not a phobe but certainly a manipulator. Fronts like he's the nice, peaceful mutant MLKj while being perfectly happy to rewrite someone's personality if he thinks he won't get caught. Once erased a whole-ass brother from Cyclops's memory for the sake of the mission
oh damn, I think I remember hearing about this now, thank you kind stranger also, didn't he once wipe Sabretooth's mind as well?
Cyclops example was just the first I thought of, I think the list of Marvel characters Xavier hasn't nonconsentually altered the minds of is shorter than this list of those he has
There's also the time the Danger Room achieved sentience and he hid it from the Xmen for years, which is kinda phobey in its own way
Many times for “therapy” in the early 90s. It was weird. He also wiped Magneto’s mind too, which resulted in Onslaught. Then there was the time he actually explicitly SA’d his students while EVIL. He was The Entity, one of Xavier’s many evil halves. What the fuck, man.
What events exactly are you talking about?
Well the Cyclops one is Deadly Genesis, but in general writers like using "Professor X mind blasted this person years ago and kept it quiet" as a retcon
Yeah that's definitely a problem and I think there's a lot of trash writing in the 90s and 00s that really tanked his character's perception, but with Claremont's version + right after I don't read him as a manipulator much at all. So ig it's a question of treating everything as canon or not.
Deadly Genesis is a pretty abysmal story so I'm more then fine with not having that be canon lmao like it's so bad.

I mean, not really? We're talking a character who's been written by a lot of writers over the years, many of whom have conflicting ideas on canon. Here's one good article that examines the 'core' of the character. eriksonline.wordpress.com/2023/06/27/i...
well northern lion has never given me flashbacks of any kind... especially not that...
Google continues to be broken so I can't find any example pics I wanted to use BUT the good news is that actual real life Patrick Stewart seems to be able to substitute into that role just fine.
to be fair NL says wack shit too
He lured me in with his approachable yet non-condescending Dark Souls 1 walkthrough and then decided my grief was annoying and splorgled my brain live on stream Thank you NL
Professor X was the og milkshake duck
I was about to fuckin say
💙all this did was me now wanting Northernlion to play Professor X in something.

And you realize Magneto was right all along
Magneto is an insane Zionist murderer the true leaders of mutant liberation are Callisto and Scott Summers
there's like. 1000 different magnetos.
True enough
idk i think i wanna know what hes cookin with this one
yeah most covers dont make sense at all im pretty sure she was already his daughter at this point too, which makes it weirder
i was incorrect, this comic came out May 1973 and she was retconned into being his daughter until October 1981 its also not a cover comic, its Avengers issue #111 and is a page within the comic itself the retcon is in Avengers Annual #10
that magneto turned out to be a robot and real magneto was a baby, it all makes sense trust the plan
Magneto is most certainly not a zionist. A zionist would not go to Israel and say "You have new gods now"
He's not like a literal Zionist but he is dedicated to establishing sovereign rule for his own people by any means necessary, up to and including massacring others. Do you think this could be a metaphor for something
Not to mention, Claremont also specifically compared him to Menachem Begin
Also I think it's fair to say that Magneto speaking for Krakoa is somewhat different than Magneto when he speaks for his own views before and after Krakoa
His views before Krakoa were "I am a teacher and leader of genosha" except for the very very small window of time after Acts of Vengeance when he remakes asteroid M and does a magnet storm. He gets his brain wiped and when he comes back hes back to heroics.
this right here is the literal moment Magneto stops being a bad guy for nearly 20 years.
Wow I forgot how gay that scene was, it's perfection.
this is what I've been screaming
