Funny enough, with a few exceptions, Teacher Twitter is now overwhelmingly a schoolmen space; even some of the women in education who remain are proud, unabashed schoolmen. Their current favorite topic: the need for empty walls and fewer classroom distractions.
It would be really interesting if the walls were actually painted annually and kept clean throughout the academic year. Veteran teachers know that some of those posters and decorations are artfully placed over poorly drawn symbols that don’t reflect our vibes.
God, I would hate to be a student in most of those guy's classrooms, but I probably don't have to worry about it since so many of them haven't taught a class in many years
Teacher Twitter was pretty full of unabashed schoolmen when I left a couple of years ago. As to decorating the classroom, I left that to the kids. The walls were never bare and we were all better for it. 😀

My (science class) walls are empty until The Children begin producing initial models of our phenomena. I just cannot prioritize, amongst everything, decor, so I don't. The other ppl on my team do and it is AMAZING but it also shows kids how different teachers can be different but equally good.
Sometimes when we have a staff meeting in someone’s classroom…I can’t concentrate because of the walls 😬
I hear ya. It's one of those things that people have such strong personal opinions on that there is no happy medium.
